The casino's address is 188 N Renfrew St, Vancouver. The operator dates the site to 1889, when it began as a racecourse. Measured in a straight line rather than by road, the site is roughly 15 km from Richmond city centre and roughly 12 km from River Rock Casino Resort.
The operator is Great Canadian Entertainment. Its website now refers to the venue as Hastings Casino instead of Hastings Racecourse. Tsleil-Waututh Nation is set to acquire the casino portion and the associated property, although the sale has not yet been completed. A memorandum of understanding was signed on 6 June 2025, followed by a definitive agreement on 7 November 2025. Before the transaction can finish, both the regulators and the City of Vancouver must approve it. In mid-June 2026, trade press indicated that it was still open. Great Canadian continued to operate the site as of October 2026.

Hastings closes each night, as some larger venues do not. The operator gives the following hours:

Only adults are admitted. In British Columbia, the minimum age for gambling is 19. At the entrance, each guest, regardless of age, is asked for original government-issued photo ID. Security staff scan the card and compare it with the register of individuals excluded from gambling venues. That register includes anyone enrolled in Game Break. For guests who are admitted, no personal information is retained.

Slot machines fill the floor. The operator does not list table games or a poker room. Great Canadian's pages give differing slot counts, so the desk prefers not to state a number. The floor may fairly be called smaller than those at the major resorts.
Live thoroughbred racing has come to an end. On 5 December 2025, Great Canadian announced that Hastings would not host another racing season. The last race of the 2025 season took place on 19 October 2025. A few operator listings still refer to live racing, but they are no longer current. Off-track wagering carries on through the simulcast racebook. The venue also publishes a monthly simulcast schedule that sets out race listings and post times.
